The Gift Of Therapy

Recently, I reached a new level of mastery in expressing my needs. The feeling of accomplishment had me metaphorically walking with my head held high, twirling my cane in circles, and gracefully striding into the sunset. It’s a euphoric afterglow that fills me with confidence that will lead me to witness even more breathtaking sunsets.

Just a few moments ago, I stepped outside and was captivated by the eastern sky and its deep lavender and pink hues. The stunning backdrop with the rhythmic sound of water droplets falling from the rain-soaked trees was a serene moment. It allowed me to appreciate the beauty of nature and find solace in its presence.

Today also marks a special occasion, as my best friend Kristen embarked on her first trip to the cabin with me. Kristen and I share a deep bond through our discussions about therapy. Her role as a psychology associate in a psychiatric hospital and my work as a counselor often intersect, providing us with a unique understanding of each other’s professional experiences. I admire Kristen’s genuine care for her patients, going beyond mere gestures and truly committing herself to their well-being. It’s this kind of unwavering support that strengthens our friendship and deepens my love and respect for her.

Listening to Kristen share her strategies and recount her relationships with her patients has left me feeling exhilarated. I’m riding a wave of inspiration, immersing myself in the security she feels and the valuable insights she has gained from working with some of humanity’s most vulnerable and overlooked populations. It’s a humbling experience, and it reinforces my commitment to making a positive impact in the lives of others.

As the night grows late, nearing 11 pm, I realize it’s time for both Kristen and me to retire to bed. I should bring this entry to a close for the night, but rest assured, I’ll be back here tomorrow. There are still many stories to share, thoughts to ponder, and moments of self-discovery to embrace. Until then, take care and know that you are loved.

With warmth and affection, Jaclynn
