Leakity Leak Leaks

I’m grateful for the arrival of spring rain, which has revealed that the barely existent skylight leak has actually worsened. Now it’s dripping at a rate of one to two drops per minute. Yes, I actually counted them. It’s quite inconvenient to have a drop hit my head or fall on the iron while I’m trying to style my hair, although I must admit, it does make for a badass sizzle sound.

Fortunately, I have a strong friendship with my roofing neighbor. I gave them a call, and they promised to come over tonight to take a look at it. All the stress and worries I’ve had over the past year about the cost and finding someone to fix it or attempting a DIY solution have suddenly disappeared.

But guess what? Amidst all this chaos, there’s a delightful surprise. A little yellow fuzzy speck has appeared under Mama Duck, and it turns out to be the cutest, most adorable duckling you’ve ever seen! Welcome to day one, little friend! I gently poked my hand, causing Mama Duck to lunge, and there it was, so tiny! Have you ever wondered how fast ducks grow? Well, wonder no more, because I’ll be posting a picture of the duckling every day, as long as Mama allows it.

This morning, our Smith Brothers milk was delivered right to our doorstep. We receive four half gallons of Whole Milk and a quart of Heavy Whipping Cream every two weeks. Why? Well, because milk is simply delicious, and having a milkman feels like a special treat.

Apologies for the temporary interruption. Evelyn just emerged from her bedroom having wet the bed. Although she’s past the diaper stage, accidents happen to all of us from time to time. I’m trying to get her to put her shirt in the hamper to be washed, but she insists it’s just water. “Yeah, just water. From my pee.”

Oh, Evelyn.

Today is going to be a busy ten-hour day for me. Thankfully, I’m well-rested, dressed in a cute outfit, and sipping on my coffee. The only advice I can give myself is to write up my notes while I’m in my sessions to stay on top of things.

We’re looking forward to our trip to the cabin this weekend, and as I mentioned yesterday, we’re hoping to open it up as an Airbnb.

The first note of the day is already checked off! I managed to fluff my office’s pillows (even gave them a karate chop – something I NEVER do), used the bathroom, refilled my water, and got down on my hands and knees to scrub the bathroom floor, all with five minutes to spare until my next session. I briefly considered asking the owner to have the custodian take care of it, but then I thought, nah, I’m perfectly capable of doing it myself.

Great news! The post about our cabin is live, and we’ve already received a booking request for four days over the 4th of July. Although I’m a bit nervous about our vinyl records possibly getting scratched, I’m excited to earn some extra moo-lah.

Anyway, life is an adventure, and sometimes the unexpected leaks and pee-filled mishaps are just the universe’s way of saying, ‘Surprise! Here’s a plot twist you never saw coming!’ But hey, who needs a predictable storyline anyway?

Love, Jaclynn
