Queen Of Clean

Every time Evelyn and I have a series of frustrating interactions, I find solace in the wealth of parenting expertise available on the internet. I delve into articles and books written by these experts and often have a moment of realization, an “Ah-ha!” moment, that prompts me to sit back and try their advice.

Today, I applied a newfound sense of security in my parenting approach. I embraced this feeling in asserting a boundary, following through with what I said, and acknowledging Evelyn’s emotions. Surprisingly, it worked wonders. Because, when I’m secure, she feels it too.

As I watch Evelyn peacefully settle down for the night, knowing that I am doing right by her, I can’t help but feel a sense of security as a parent.

Earlier, I observed a not so secure mother who tightly gripped her daughter’s hand until she cried out in pain, “Ow, that hurts!” when the daughter wouldn’t listen. My mandated reporter instincts kicked in, causing some concern. However, since it didn’t cross that line, I managed to calm myself and refocus on enjoying my sausage and fennel wood-fired pizza and pork blanco rigatoni.

Our cabin’s to-do list is growing in order to make it a genuine Airbnb experience. We need to add items like bath towels, toddler sheets, blackout curtains, and wine glasses. Thinking about it, we’re not too far off the mark, are we? Fortunately, we have one more week to gather all our Amazon goodies, which we ordered with two-day shipping, before the first guests arrive for their four-day stay next week.

I’m eagerly looking forward to sharing the reviews with you when they come in!

One of my favorite aspects of our cabin is the thoughtfully stocked medicine cabinet that is made out of a suitcase. It now contains new shavers, toothbrushes, floss, tampons, toothpaste, cotton rounds, and first aid supplies. In other words, guests of ours, not to worry, we got your back.

By meticulously going through every drawer, dusting away cobwebs, and scrubbing where the trim meets the floor, I’ve learned that when people are paying to stay somewhere, you take cleanliness to a whole new level. This experience has even inspired a hypothetical million-dollar book, TV show, and mini-series deal titled “Clean Like You’re Gonna Get Paid.” It’s a trick-the-mind concept that combines organization and coaching techniques, and who knows, it might just work!

I genuinely hope you’re enjoying a delightful weekend. With love, Jaclynn
