It’s not easy for me to admit when I find myself in a vulnerable state, when the veil that separates me from life’s harsh realities feels paper-thin. There’s a part of me that dreads the possibility of receiving patronizing consolation, those condescending pats on the head accompanied by comforting words of reassurance.
But that’s not what I seek. Life, after all, is a marathon—an ongoing journey where I must keep moving forward, regardless of the fires burning on my left or the car wrecks on my right. If I allow myself to dwell in self-pity or get entangled in the struggles, I risk missing out on the beauty of life as it unfolds before me.
There are things that bring joy and warmth to my heart, even amidst the challenges. The simple pleasure of sipping a morning cup of coffee. The anticipation of picking up a vintage oven today, adding a touch of charm to the cabin. Witnessing the growth and progress of a 16-year-old client, knowing that I’ve played a small part in their journey. The support and encouragement of a Spanish friend, who’s helping me build confidence. These are the threads that weave into the tapestry of my life, and I cherish each of them.
Life is about finding balance, embracing the heavy and the light. As I paused to reflect on this notion, a breathtaking scene unfolded before me. I glanced up from writing that very sentence, only to witness a magnificent bald eagle soaring gracefully against the backdrop of newly opened blue skies, framed by the army green of evergreen trees. It was a powerful reminder of the beauty that surrounds us, even in the midst of chaos.
Today is the last day of June, and as I acknowledge this, two thoughts arise within me. The first is a sense of urgency—time seems to be slipping away too quickly. But with that awareness comes a deep breath and a promise to myself: “Make this day count.” It’s a commitment to embrace the present moment, to immerse myself fully in the unfolding story of my life.
Love, Jaclynn
