What do you mean I’m not taking my laptops, Kindle, tablet, and phone out of my bag at Atlanta’s security checkpoint? Whatever futuristic technology they’re using, I wish they’d share their secrets with SeaTac. Another plus is my super sharp arrowhead I found two weeks ago snuck in without a trace.
Our collective load was lightened further when the crackly and much too loud CB call came over the speaker for volunteers to check their bags. Tied around my suitcase handle now is a sturdy white barcoded slip that will also act as my ticket to early boarding.
Still in Atlanta, but we’re back in Seattle country, I see. A couple, likely just having exited the plane we’re about to board, whooped at Dave’s Kraken t-shirt,
Pre-flight waiting is my favorite part of the journey. It’s the reflective book-end part of a trip, where I get to savor all that’s come before as well as what’s going to be, all while being plunked right in the middle of it all.
Time to people-watch. I dig the simplicity of the gray sparkly stripe, Adidas-wearing woman directly across from me. Likely in her 60s, her long, straight gray hair is something I aspire for one day, and silver eyeglasses tucked up in her hair are a nice touch. With all my glances at her, she’s unfazed, as instead her gaze is diligently focused on the receptionist awaiting boarding.
Oh goodie, an earlier arrival time than expected: 9:30pm!.
And not until right this very minute have one of those velvet-fabric, u-shaped pillows sounded like a good idea. Do you use one of those? If so, I’m jealous. I could definitely go for a stable siesta.
And for my final complaint, everyone’s blasting their mini overhead fans. I know because I watched them twist them on. Also, I should know better than to wear a tank top, or at the very least be a smart traveler and bring a cardigan. For my future self – Always bring a cardigan!
So, I’ll do as I’m told, “Sit back, relax, and enjoy the flight”. Hopefully a turbulence-free one.
See you in the 206.
Love, Jaclynn
