Thought Rinse

As I enjoy my morning cup of coffee – a single shot of espresso from the Breville, a splash of scalding hot water, and a generous dollop of heavy whipping cream – I ponder the day ahead, which is wide open with countless opportunities waiting to be seized.

I shift the Volt into low gear as I descend Elhi Hill. A quick glance in the rearview mirror reveals it’s just me on the road. In a 50 mph zone, I continue to monitor the rearview mirror as I allow the car to slow down to 30 mph. The resistance of the low gear combined with the slope and length of the drive means I can gain an extra 5, maybe even 6 miles of electricity. In a world filled with gas-guzzlers, playing the recharge game makes me feel like a winner.

Back at home after a handful of client meetings, I enjoy a bowl of spaghetti while standing at the bar with Dave and Evelyn nearby. When Evelyn confides in me with a secret, I inadvertently share it with Dave. “No, it’s a secret,” she chides me, then turns to Dave and adds, “Rinse it out of your thinking.” We both wait for Dave to comply and after he assures her he’s done so, she proceeds to tell me the secret once again.

“Rinse out your thinking.” Where does she come up with this stuff?

Meanwhile, we learned that the piece of land we’re interested in is priced at $75,000, a bit higher than what we initially hoped for. Dave, ever the adventurer, is eager to take the plunge and says, “Let’s do it.” However, in the same breath, he imagines us selling our house – not this spring but the next. So, it appears our dreams are set on a long-term horizon. As for me, I’m the impulsive one, always ready to dive into new endeavors headfirst, but I know I need his grounding. Dave is good for me.

I hope you have someone just as good for you too. It’s important.

Now, it’s time to unwind with an episode of “What We Do In The Shadows” before heading to bed.

Love ya! Jaclynn

PS Here’s Evelyn loving life.
