Do you ever notice that delightful melody right before you ascend an escalator at a mall, where a person in a nice shirt is skillfully playing a piano? Well, at home, that same mood is recreated when Dave takes his seat at the piano.
Tonight, his practice included Charlie Brown’s “Christmas Time” and another piece with high notes that sent Archie to the moon. Take a listen:
In the land of culinary exploration, I achieved a new level of hamburger perfection earlier today. Frustrated by the thumb indent method and the inevitable shrinkage, I turned to TikTok for help. One technique involved placing a ball of meat on the heated oil pan, covering it with wax paper, and pressing it down with a flat object. While the video used a metal press, I improvised with the bottom of a glass jar. The key, it turned out, was pressing it thinner than I initially thought. The result? Juicy perfection – a method I’ll be sticking to.
Speaking of creativity, ever tried pairing freshly hand-cut sweet potato fries with a homemade Caesar dressing and barbecue sauce? Until today, me either. The combination of garlic spice, lemon zestiness, and barbecue sweetness is a mouth watering concoction. If I had a restaurant, I’d call it “Jaclynn’s Jacked Up Sauce,” drawing people from four states away to experience its magic.

Now, let’s get to the hot topic of baths. Is it odd that I’ve upgraded to two baths a day? If I continue this trend, will people mistake me for a fish and alert the authorities? It’s a risk I’m willing to take – after all, who wouldn’t want to be closer to their finned friends?
During a family phone call, I was reminded that Watson’s Nursery is a festive wonderland this time of year. Despite exploring the indoor toys and gifts, I initially missed the outdoor sights. Following Evelyn outdoors, I stumbled upon a fenced area filled with sawdust and, well, dog-sized poops. To my left, two fuzzy antlered caribou, aka reindeer – one lying down, the other standing – were hoping an employee nearby would share a snack of a broken up hay bail . Spoiler alert: they didn’t, but I did manage to capture some fantastic photos.

Now, as I prepare to immerse myself in a warm bath, it’s not just for the sake of luxury. The struggle to get warm persists, and the heat of the water is the only thing that elevates my overall body temperature so I can feel normal.
I hope this finds you snug and warm, wherever you are.
Love,
Jaclynn
