I almost pulled the trigger on this https://seattle.craigslist.org/see/rvs/d/silverdale-1989-chevy-g20-get-away/7717025104.html conversion camper van. In July, I’ll need a home on wheels to jet me and my plants across the country. Thankfully, I have a level-headed partner whose scrunched face, in response to my “Yes, it’ll also be my daily,” was all that was needed to make me rethink my crazy crossroad shenanigans.
More practical, Jaclynn. Be more practical.
Fine. We’ll stick with the U-Haul and our current car and bank the $13,000 that would have gone to my sweet ride and instead spend the extra dough on hotels and gourmet meals. This makes me think, it sure would be fun to find neat places to stop on the way. How many hours of driving a day do you suppose?
Dave says 8-10. I’m game for that, as long as we have a couple of half days to find a hotel with a pool. Uh oh, we’ll have Archie. Maybe I’ll look for one with a dog pool too. Are those a thing?
I didn’t have anything to say to the teenager in my office. As they lay on my couch, sprawled out to eventually nap for the final half of the session. I did notes. How I wish I could grab them out of their life and plop them in a distant future where their parents’ alcohol rages and bullies at school were a speck in the rearview. But I can’t. So for an hour a week, my office is their shelter from the storm. I tell them they’re brilliant and don’t deserve any of this, and that I hope they know they are worthy even if their circumstances don’t reflect that. I love seeing their half-smile at me and their sleepy shuffle out the door.
“Am I helping?” I asked as they turned the corner. “Yes,” they said, and together we said, “See you next week.”
I sure hope I’m helping.
Anyway, it’s 10:12 PM and I still have to edit this, and get a drink of water before bed.
Oh, and Dave scheduled his hernia surgery for Wednesday, March 27th. We need help, and as of now, we have none. Hopefully, my parents will be available, otherwise we’ll need to find another way for Evelyn to get to and from school.
Night night. Love, Jaclynn
