Serendipity Day

What test did I pass to win over a new-ish, highly resistant teenage client? Their “I don’t dread coming here anymore” comment had the back of my head hit the chair while saying, “You mean you like me?!” Truly, I was a bit surprised. What a gift that was.

Can you believe it, after one day on the market, our cabin is under contract. Tomorrow, an inspection is scheduled, and besides the floor sinking around the toilet that I hope the inspector doesn’t catch, it all should come back good. During COVID, we did significant renovations like leveling the foundation, repairing the roof, and adding onto the deck, which gives me great confidence in it passing with flying colors. The contract was for $10,000 over our asking, with us paying $10,000 in closing costs. Which is a wash, but if the appraisal comes in right, there shouldn’t be a hitch in the sale.

The median range for most homes in the Ocean Shores area is 68 days, so our one day really knocked that number out of the water. I attribute it to being as cute as a button due to channeling my interior designer.

An impulse buy by Dave’s thumb earlier means he and I are heading to a Kraken game at a discounted price, discounted because there’s no chance of our team going to the playoffs. With Evelyn wanting a night with Grandma and Papa and my last session ending at 5pm, Dave and I can zip on to the Emerald City and catch some puck action. I’m glad Dave can check off a want-to-do-before-we-move-to-Georgia bucket list.

Want to hear something funny? Our brother-in-law’s friend drove by our new build today and realized we’re building the same house design he built. Furthermore, they offered for Dave and me to see their house (what our future house will look like) when we’re in town this weekend. Which is both serendipitous and fun!

I’m looking forward to getting answers to questions that have been ping-ponging in my mind, like are there enough and big enough windows? Where will the poolside changing area and shower/potty go? And just how fantastic will our effing pool be?

What else, what else?

Oh! There are cool videos in the news of a volcano erupting in Iceland. The wall’s crater collapsed, and lava ran out of it with an oceanic power. You should go check it out if you haven’t already.

I think that’s it. I’m just moving and scootin’ along in life and feel grateful to be where I am. Even though there are so many things happening, I’m in a very good spot.

Love, Jaclynn
