Writing became deprioritized when the Weather Channel took center stage. Seeing the record storm surge levels in Tampa as Hurricane Helene spun its web south of us is concerning. Yesterday, I remembered I’d canceled our home insurance on the house we just sold but hadn’t put our new house on any plan. With my anxiety rising from a 1 to a 4 out of 10, I asked Dave if we had home insurance, and he said we did, and that he’d added us to a Progressive plan.
It’s midnight, and seeing the images on TV—the strength of the wind and knowing the large oak tree limbs are brittle—Dave and I woke Evelyn and brought her into bed with us. It’s a tight fit, but seeing Crawford County in the hurricane’s projected path means I’d rather be safe than sorry.
We’re safe, and hopefully, the worst that will happen here is flooding, but we shall see.
Lots of love,
Jaclynn
