Today was a nice, relaxing day, full of little moments that made me smile. I spent part of it planting basil, sage, and cilantro in my cute roll cart, labeling each spot with my trusty label maker. My green thumb is still a work in progress, but remembering what I planted and where has never been my strong suit, so this small act felt like a win. I’d like to think I earned a new badge for my imaginary gardener’s vest today—complete with embroidered slogans and my last name proudly displayed on the back.
Speaking of badges, I sometimes wish gardening had its own version of Boy or Girl Scouts. I’d wear that vest with pride! But then, would I have to learn how to crochet?
Crocheting brings to mind the Wobble fox-making kit Dave bought me a while back. It has step-by-step tutorials on YouTube. I started it back in March but never finished. It’s sitting on a shelf, quietly waiting. Maybe tomorrow, I’ll dust it off and dive back in.
It fascinates me how something can feel so far away when I’m not engaging with it. Then suddenly, it’s front and center again, and I’m all in until it’s done.
As the day winds down, I can’t help but reflect on the small comforts that made it special. I’m grateful for freshly washed sheets waiting for me tonight, a Sam’s Club grocery haul that has us set for the week, and the warmth of our cozy house on these extra cold nights. These little joys are the perfect ending to a peaceful day.
Love, Jaclynn
