Scrub a Dub Dub

I had a fun evening with four other women for dinner and soap-making get-together. Truly, it was lovely. After enjoying an amazing chicken and orzo soup—a Pioneer Woman recipe—I’m inspired to make it myself. And soap, too! Though gloves and eyewear were necessary (mixing the powdery lye into lukewarm water bumped the temperature up to almost boiling), it was fairly simple and definitely an activity we all wanted to do again.

We learned a lot along the way—from how to pour the soap mixture into the trays (a funnel is a must) to how much of each ingredient we’ll need next time (doubling it sounds like a solid plan). For scents, we’re already dreaming of eucalyptus and lavender, though this time we stuck with honey and oatmeal.

I’m going to host the next one, and I’ll call it something clever, like Soap II: Let’s Get Even Cleaner. But since there were more laughs around the outdoor firepit than I expected, I’m only now (at 11 p.m.) getting around to writing. With my brain ready to shut down for the day, I’ll chat with you more tomorrow.

Take care.
Love,
Jaclynn
