Turning Toward the Light

Learn about sunflowers with me. Did you know they actually track the movement of the sun? And that one sunflower head is made up of thousands of tiny individual flowers? Lastly, when the day is done, they turn back toward the east—already anticipating the morning’s return of light.

I also learned that if I wanted to see Coldplay, I’d have to drive five hours north to Nashville or ten hours south to Miami—and spend hundreds of dollars on tickets. My little “just for fun” investigation quickly turned into a solid heck no. Maybe someday… but I probably shouldn’t wait too long. They’re kind of at their peak.

I regret not seeing Garth Brooks when he was at his peak in the late ’90s, during that farewell tour. Because when I watched his comeback concert a few years ago—the one where he had a belly and was getting full-on old man sweaty—it just… wasn’t the same.

I’m struggling to find my thoughts tonight. Most of my day was spent working, and because of confidentiality, I can’t really share much. I will say this: my hair was cute. And I did switch shirts halfway through the day—from a long-sleeve green blouse to a short-sleeve pink one.

Also, why was I folding laundry in just my bra when my nephew knocked and walked straight in the front door? Thankfully, he was so focused on handing Evelyn her little canister of doo-dads, I don’t think he even noticed me.

I’m itching to get back into Lilith’s Brood, the sci-fi book Dave recommended for my book club this month. I’m about 80% through it, and I love knowing there are two more books in the series. I rarely read series, unlike Dave, who just finished the final book in the 41-book Discworld series by Terry Pratchett. I’ve read a couple myself and fully support Dave’s undertaking—just not sure I want to do the same. I could, but… do I want to?

If I’m going to read tonight, I better brush my teeth and get into my PJs.

See you tomorrow.

Love,
Jaclynn
