Seven Donuts Deep

Two minutes into the whole reason I went to town, I was already headed back out. The worker’s response, “You don’t have Apple Care?” followed by a $500 quote to clean my keyboard and reinsert the Enter key, made the decision easy. Exit stage left.

So Dave and I are putting our genius minds together—though not thanks to the Genius Bar—to bring this MacBook back to life. A little isopropyl alcohol, a cotton ball, and some YouTube tutorials had me inching toward restoration… right up until the enter key popped completely off again. Dead end.

The documentary The Biggest Little Farm stole my heart. The way they designed and implemented practices to replenish the land hit me right in that circus-strongman bell spot—clang, all the way to the top. I didn’t wait long after breakfast before roping Dave into shoveling a wheelbarrow of compost and a bin of rabbit poop. Together, we spread the mix across a hardened 10’x10’ patch of ground, then topped it with flattened cardboard boxes. I’d seen the term “lasagna method” before, and as I layered it all, I had a little chuckle to myself.

I’m also a little sick of myself today. Kind of like I was after eating seven mini chocolate donuts in a row. Maybe it’s a good sign—it means it’s time to cool it. To chill. Which is exactly when I tell myself: Jaclynn, go sit in your rocking chair. So I do. And the hummingbirds and their antics pull me right back to center.

I counted seven or eight of them today. Since the trees out front were cut, I’ve only been maxing at five, so the extra chatter and chasing felt like a treat.

Meanwhile, South Park is killing it lately. Not that they haven’t before, but their ability to skirt the lines, sprint through the gray areas, and make a mess of it all is pretty entertaining TV.

The Braves and Mariners are in the bottom of the 8th—Mariners up a bit. I could probably convince Dave to flip the channel to South Park for a few laughs before bed, especially since we’ve got to be up and out the door early for a noon game in Atlanta.

He’s grabbing ice cream, so I’ll sign off here. Have a great rest of your Saturday.

Take care.
Love, Jaclynn
