A Week Of Yes

“Would anyone like me to potty for them?” I asked the comfy couch dwellers as I stood to head down the hall to the half bath.

“Oh yes, please,” Reid said.

A week away from work, getting to live in fun and play with friends, is the freaking life. I feel like myself. No, not even me—I feel like Earth itself. There’s a fullness to who I am with this company. The amount of them, specifically. It’s one thing to be with a best friend, but four of them?

I can’t help but feel grateful. All the freaking time. It’s easy. Even the fighting isn’t fighting, but cute, marital-like spats over who will rub whose back first.

Today included a drag show, a visit to Dave’s childhood home (Reid and I have already shown ours), and a trip to Stone Mountain Park, ten minutes from where Dave grew up.

But my favorite part was board game time and what we’re currently doing: watching the NBA Finals. I went from not being into the series at all to being completely invested. After last game’s unreal comeback, we’re all in. Like all our money is riding on red and we can’t look away.

We’re gathered on the couch, ribbing each other. Paul is teaching Evelyn chess. Dave is playing a solo board game. Reid and I are comparing notes on our previous NBA knowledge.

Tonight, plus two more nights with Uncle Reid and Uncle Paul here. More books read to Evelyn. More shared meals. More soaking up this much-needed together time.

I better get to sleep so I’m refreshed for tomorrow.

Night.

Love,
Jaclynn
