Tomorrow’s Story

1–2 minutes

To read

In another day lies what I want to write about. Far from here. My brain is a scrambling of eggs, fresh-laid ones, mind you, with a bit of cheese, paprika, milk, salt, and pepper, just like Grandma used to do.

Speaking of Grandma, it’s her birthday today.

I don’t need her to be living to keep the repeating calendar notification on my phone, reminding me it’s her day.

My mind also settles on a long-overdue trip my BFF Kristen is making this way next month. As Dave, Evelyn, and all of Dave’s family head to the beach in Florida, I’ll be a bachelorette, swooping in to pick up my best gal pal from the Atlanta airport. What kind of shenanigans will we come up with? That’s the current question on both of our minds, I’m sure. For now, I’m taking pictures of interesting events, like a paint night at the local library for adults, and sending them to her so we’ll have a place to reference ideas later.

I’m tired.

It was crazy of me to push for taking the Cool Deck paint out from under the house to repaint the pool deck. Although the blackened weathering spots and chips needed the update after two years of storms and use, did today really have to be the day?

I’m paying for it with a blister the size of my thumb from gripping that handle too tight.

I’m a long way from done, and even though the amount of paint almost filled one of those five-gallon buckets, the amount needed to fill in those deeper wells is a lot. I’m trying to do the places that’ll give me the biggest bang for my buck, so that when I run out, it will visually be whatever it is.

Well, you guys, I’m dunzo. I’m beat. And could use a mind shut-off.

Thanks for stopping by, and I’ll see you here tomorrow.

Love,

Jaclynn
