“Everybody, socks. I need your socks.”
Standing in the laundry room, I stared in awe at the blue, gooey substance dripping down the wall and spilling across the floor. I’d shot down Dave’s idea of scraping it up with a spatula and opted for socks.
Socks are absorbent.
After gathering 12 or so from each of us, I felt confident my 30 to 40 singles would do the trick. Then, seated on my fanny—a term my grandmother fondly used for one’s rump—I cupped each sock in my hand, scooped up the goo, and put the laundry-detergent-packed vessel into a Ziploc bag.
They’re kind of like Tide Pods, only much more expensive and less economical.
But they do work.
I used the soap-packed socks for three loads today.
I haven’t yet mentioned that I’m using a to-do list app, Todoist, have I?
Well, it’s going awesome.
Specifically for the not-super-important-have-to-dos, but for the I’d-like-to-do-that-at-some-point-but-not-right-this-exact-moment tasks. They’re the if-I-were-really-on-top-of-life-I’d-be-doing-these-things things.
And even if I’m not doing them all at once, I’m figuring out the next thing to do.
For example, I need to mail a friend’s bathing suit to them. But I also want to send them a loaf of bread. So on my list is: find a box.
Which maybe doesn’t mean much to you, but to me, it’s the key to the mysteries of the universe.
We signed up for a camping trip over Labor Day.
Now that we have the chickens, I’ll need a 7 a.m. let-out of the coop and a 9 p.m. close-up. I’d usually ask Dave’s brother, but it sounds like he’ll be gone.
Do I do the last-resort thing and get a Rover person to house-sit?
I need to talk to Dave.
Love ya!
Love,
Jaclynn
