The day is drawing to a close, and I’m happy to say it was a good day. I am 40 years old now. It’s a little scary realization but mostly an awesome one.
I played virtual poker again tonight, only this time Kristen, my best gal pal, joined me. We. Had. A. Blast. I don’t know the last time I laughed that hard for that length of time.
And tomorrow Paula’s coming over to watch my daughter Evelyn and will then spend the night. It’s weird how split I feel. On the one hand, I look forward to having time away with Dave, but Evelyn is a massive part of my heart; it makes it hard to leave.
While playing poker, one of the players told how he came in possession of an Oculus headset (the same virtual reality device I use). Just today he was at Walmart checking out and realized he had forgotten his credit card at home. After telling the cashier he’d be back momentarily, the gentleman behind him asked him about much it was. Before he knew it, the man had paid for it, and that was that—three hundred dollars no questions asked. I couldn’t help but think, why can’t the news tell more stories like this one?
Anyway, since the last book was non-fiction and pretty dense, I’m now onto the first Percy Jackson book. It’s a very light and fun read, and I plan to read a few minutes before bed. So I better skidattle.
I’ll probably be writing from our hotel room in Ellensburg and will fill you in on all the details of our mini college reunion then.
I’ll leave by quoting something a guy on the poker table said tonight, “Man. What an amazing life this is.” Later alligator.
Love always,
Jaclynn
